Biography

Artist, Jeweller and Community Artist Fiona Hermse was brought up in rural Aberdeenshire.  She specialised in jewellery design at Gray's School of Art in 2007 where she received first class honours before completing a Masters Degree in 2009 at the renowned Birmingham School of Jewellery. She now lives and works in East Lothian, close to the historic city of Edinburgh. 

 "Constantly inspired by our interaction with the natural world, I am particularly fascinated by superstition, spiritual belief and myth in nature."

She has a workshop/studio at Cockenzie House & Gardens where she designs and creates her work by hand, often undertaking private commissions. Traditional craft techniques as well as installation, photography, drawing and painting are key elements of her practice.

Fiona has a particular interest in difficult to reach audiences, she undertakes artist led community projects for charities and individuals.  She also provides art, craft and sensory workshops for vulnerable adults on a mobile basis.
