A Bird Doesn’t Sing Because It Has An Answer, It Sings Because It Has A Song

This project was a collaboration with Link Up Women’s Support, a charity offering support for women affected by mental health problems and social isolation. It explores themes of expression, mutual support and connection as well as nature and transience.

The resulting exhibition was a culmination of a series of craft workshops led by Fiona Hermse with the Link Up community. Each participant crafted, coloured or decorated colourful feathers from wire, thread and beads or watercolour and paper. The results were arranged into two wing formations and exhibited alongside poetry written by the Link Up members. Taking place at St. Margaret’s House, this exhibition formed part of the Scottish Mental Health Art Festival (SMHAF) 2015. Scroll down for more images of this project.
